Meet Dodi Tabbaa
My name is Dodi Tabbaa, the creative mind behind Originally Yours.
I’m an art professional based in Amman, Jordan. I am also a textile designer with over 40 years of experience in multimedia, printmaking, and photography.
It was my ambition to see my unique patterns and designs translated onto fabrics and produced as scarves, tops, and leisurewear.
Thanks to Vida Design Studios, which was formally based in San Francisco, I was able to fulfil this ambition. I still work on my studio art, which I keep separated from my wearable art products.
My scarves are made with the finest fabrics, to name a few cashmere, silk, and silk modal.
An Interview with Originally Yours
What inspired you to start this creative brand?
A friend first introduced me to a global free trade organisation, named Vida Design Studios, in 2016. The attraction was that the proceeds of profits would benefit education for the makers of our scarves and apparel. Artists from all over the world would apply their designs to scarves and other items. After Vida Design Studios closed down, I continued to work in this field as a commercial project under the name of Originally Yours, but only seasonally. Sometimes I donate a portion of the profit to local NGOs.
What makes your brand different from others in your niche?
Being an art professional meant that what my brand offered was unique wearable art.
Do you ship regionally/internationally?
Actually, my market audience is a small percent of locals; however, I have shipped a few times internationally and regionally if required.
My fabrics extend from luxury to casual and are sourced mainly from India and China which are known for their variety of pure fabrics.
Where do your materials come from?
What’s one product you personally use or love the most?
I love to wear my scarves as an important accessory to any outfit.
